Gujarati Samaj of Tri-State, Inc. (GST) is a local cultural non-profit tax-exempt organization successfully promoting Indian cultural and social activities in the South Jersey area. Since its inception in 1998, GST has grown to be a well recognized organization in South Jersey. GST formed with eleven committee members who were Board of Directors for the corporation. Currently GST has twelve committee member or Board of Directors. Although the name suggests that it is an organization for the Gujaratis, GST conducts majority of the programs for the entire Indian community. GST always welcomes everyone in the community to all their programs.

GST takes pride in providing a platform for young students to perform Indian dances on stage. Every year at the “Anand Mela” program, over a 100 participants ranging from 5 years to 50 years perform Indian dances. At “Anand Mela” GST offers opportunity for the Indian community to sell homemade Indian food and Indian merchandise like saris, jewelry, and Indian music CDs. Over 1,100 people from the community attend the “Anand Mela” program. GST also presents a Diwali dinner program, where well known performers from India are invited to entertain the community and sumptuous Indian food is served to ring in the New Year. GST also organizes a “Picnic” during summer, “Dandiya Ras” during Navaratri. GST had conducted classes to teach the Gujarati language. GST had organized fund raisers for “Gujarat Earthquake relief”. GST also donates scholarship funds to local schools.

GST does not have any paid members but every person in the community has an equal privilege and is always welcomed to participate in GST’s programs.

GST also publishes a magazine “ABHUSHAN” twice during the year. This magazine covers the Indian Culture, Indian food recipes, Indian events and Indian Holidays. It includes advice from the professionals. It offers opportunity for everyone especially younger generation and Senior Citizens to publish their ideas and thoughts in the magazine. This magazine also provides an excellent opportunity for the local businesses to advertise to the targeted audience. While well wishers get an opportunity to send Greetings to the entire community
